Preparing for Portfolio Reviews

WHO SHOULD ATTEND • Anyone interested in portfolio reviews, professional meetings, or submitting work to application processes. This seminar will be especially relevant for those attending Review Santa Fe and those who are interested in attending Review Santa Fe in the future.

Presented by Photo Director, Educator, Visual Producer, and Review Santa Fe Portfolio Reviewer Amber Terranova, the Preparing for Portfolio Reviews Project Lab Seminar offers advice on preparing your work for meetings with curators, editors, publishers, and other industry professionals. Portfolio Reviews offer opportunities for project distribution and making key contacts for career advancement for photographers working at all levels.

Terranova will discuss the importance of tailoring their body of work to different types of opportunities, from gallery and museum exhibitions to print publications and books. The add-on review provides participants with an invaluable portfolio review session with Terranova to refine their projects.

Special guests Debe Arlook and Eric Kunsman will discuss their upcoming book, Both Sides of the Table, Photography Portfolio Reviews Do's & Don'ts, for the first time, highlighting perspectives from organizers, reviewers, and reviewees.

The Project Lab Seminar is provided free of charge to current CENTER Members and Review Santa Fe Invitees. Please email us directly for access to the free registration link using the dedicated “MEMBER” button below.

Limited spaces are available for the add-on portfolio critique, therefore may not be available to add to your cart. Registration for the add-on reviews will close at 5 PM MT on August 24, 2023.

CAN’T AFFORD THE REGISTRATION FEE? • Registration fee waivers are available on a case-by-case basis for those who cannot afford the registration fees for whatever reason. To apply, you must fill out the Fee Waiver Request Form before the fee waiver deadline of August 11, 2023. Please note, there are no extensions for fee waivers.

CANCELLATION • You may cancel minus a $10 processing fee until August 11, 2023. Please be aware that there is a minimum number of registered participants needed in order to run the class. Should that minimum not be reached by August 18, we will cancel the class and refund your registration fees. 

RECORDING • The seminar recording is now available. Please email us for complimentary access as a CENTER Member, Review Santa Fe Invitee, or program registrant. If you did not pre-register for the program and would like access to the recording, please email us about purchasing the available content.

Amber Terranova is an experienced photo director, educator, and visual producer based between New York and New Mexico. She has worked as the Education Director with Magnum Photos and held faculty positions in the BFA department at the School of Visual Arts and International Center of Photography.

Amber has extensive marketing, photo directing, commissioning, and consultancy experience for multiple major brands and publications. She has worked as a photo editor at New York, Outside, Photo District News, The New Yorker, and People. In 2013 Amber was the interim Director at the Bilder Nordic School of Photography in Oslo, Norway. Amber is committed to photography education and to helping photographers realize their creative and career potential. She has taught photography workshops in the US, Europe, and Asia and has been a guest lecturer at several institutions. In addition, she has judged a number of international photo competitions.
