Join CENTER for A Juror’s Perspective: Awards, Grants & Reviews, a free online seminar with photo director, educator, and visual arts producer Amber Terranova. This session is designed for photographers and visual artists who want a clearer understanding of how work is evaluated for awards, grants, and calls for entry.
Amber will share insight into the juror’s review process and offer practical guidance on editing your portfolio, preparing strong submissions, and presenting your work with intention. Participants will gain tools to refine their projects, strengthen their visual narratives, and approach applications with greater clarity and confidence.
Whether you are new to applying or looking to sharpen your existing materials, this seminar provides valuable perspective on how reviewers engage with work and what helps submissions stand out.
One-on-One Portfolio Reviews
Following the seminar, a limited number of individual portfolio or submission reviews with Amber Terranova will be available for purchase.
These 20-minute sessions offer personalized feedback on your portfolio, specific submissions, or works in progress. Whether you are preparing for an upcoming award, grant, or review event, this is an opportunity to receive direct insight and actionable guidance tailored to your work.
Only five review slots are available, scheduled between 1:00 PM and 3:20 PM (MT) on Friday, February 20. Sessions are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Amber Terranova is an experienced photo director, educator, and visual producer based between New York and New Mexico. She has worked as the Education Director with Magnum Photos and held faculty positions in the BFA department at the School of Visual Arts and International Center of Photography.
Amber has extensive marketing, photo directing, commissioning, and consultancy experience for multiple major brands and publications. She has worked as a photo editor at New York, Outside, Photo District News, The New Yorker, and People. In 2013 Amber was the interim Director at the Bilder Nordic School of Photography in Oslo, Norway. Amber is committed to photography education and to helping photographers realize their creative and career potential. She has taught photography workshops in the US, Europe, and Asia and has been a guest lecturer at several institutions. In addition, she has judged a number of international photo competitions.
