No. Because Review Santa Fe is a juried program with a new application and selection process each year, participation cannot be deferred to a future event. This policy helps ensure fairness to all applicants and selected participants each year.
-
Participants may cancel their registration for a refund, less a $150 processing fee, on or before July 31, 2026. Refund requests received after that date are not eligible for a refund.
Review Santa Fe requires significant advance planning and preparation. In the months leading up to the event, staff begin processing registrations and payments, preparing participant materials, building the public photographer listing, coordinating event logistics, and ordering supplies and materials. In addition, participant cancellations become increasingly difficult to fill as the event approaches, as many photographers need significant advance notice to arrange travel and lodging.
For these reasons, refunds are not available after July 31, 2026.
-
Yes. Payment plans are available upon request. Please contact programs@centersantafe.org to discuss available options and set up a payment plan.
-
No. Review Santa Fe invitations are non-transferable and may not be reassigned to another individual.
-
Yes. Payment receipts are sent as payments are processed. If you need a copy of a receipt for your records, please contact programs@centersantafe.org.
REGISTRATION & TUITION FAQ
REVIEWER SELECTION & LOTTERY SCHEDULING
Please note that reviewer selection does not take place immediately after registration, and there is no action required at this time. This page will be updated once the lottery has opened.
One of the most common questions we receive from participants is when and how reviewer selections are made.
All Review Santa Fe participants receive nine portfolio reviews as part of their registration. Reviewer meetings are assigned through an online lottery scheduling system that opens in late October, shortly before Review Santa Fe. Participants will receive a separate email with detailed instructions when the lottery opens.
The lottery system determines which reviewers you will meet with based on your ranked preferences and reviewer availability. While participants do not select their final schedules directly, every participant receives nine portfolio reviews.
-
When the reviewer lottery opens in late October, participants will be asked to rank all reviewers in order of preference, from the reviewer they are most interested in meeting to the reviewer they are least interested in meeting.
It is important to carefully review all reviewer biographies before making your selections. The lottery system requires a complete ranking of every reviewer, not just the reviewers you are most interested in meeting.
Once all participant rankings have been submitted, the lottery system uses those preferences to assign meetings across all participants. The system's algorithm is designed to maximize the number of participants who receive meetings with reviewers they are most interested in while balancing reviewer availability across the entire event.
Some participants assume that only ranking a handful of favorite reviewers will improve their chances of receiving those meetings. In fact, the opposite is often true. Providing a thoughtful ranking of all reviewers gives the lottery system more information to work with and generally results in stronger overall review schedules.
While everyone naturally has favorite reviewers, Review Santa Fe regularly leads to meaningful connections with reviewers participants may not have initially considered. We encourage participants to keep an open mind and take the time to review all reviewer biographies before submitting their rankings.
-
The reviewer lottery opens in late October, shortly before Review Santa Fe. Participants will receive a separate email with detailed instructions, reviewer biographies, and scheduling information when the lottery opens.
There is no action required prior to the lottery opening.
-
No.
The reviewer lottery remains open for approximately one week in October. Participants may submit their selections at any point during the open period. There is no advantage to submitting your rankings immediately.
-
No.
The lottery system works from your ranked preferences, but participants should expect to receive meetings with reviewers throughout their ranking list. You may receive meetings with reviewers ranked #3, #12, #20, or elsewhere in your preferences.
For this reason, we strongly recommend researching all reviewers before submitting your selections.
-
Reviewer confirmations are ongoing throughout the year. We expect approximately 45 reviewers to participate.
As Review Santa Fe approaches, participants will receive additional reviewer information and biographies to assist with the selection process.
The current reviewer list can be viewed here: centersantafe.org/reviewers
-
No.
Review Santa Fe uses a lottery-based scheduling system to coordinate hundreds of meetings between participants and reviewers. While participants rank reviewers in order of preference, customization of individual schedules is not built into the system.
Participants cannot:
Select specific review times
Request all reviews on a particular day
Request all morning or afternoon reviews
Request that reviews be grouped together
Request schedule changes after the lottery has been completed
Review schedules are generated automatically based on participant rankings, reviewer availability, and overall event scheduling needs.
If you have travel constraints, such as arriving late or departing early, please indicate those needs when completing your lottery selections. We will do our best to accommodate arrival and departure constraints whenever possible, but review schedules cannot otherwise be customized.
-
Possibly. Depending on reviewer availability, additional à la carte reviews may be offered during Review Santa Fe. These reviews are optional and are not included in standard registration.
Information about available reviewers, pricing, and how to purchase additional reviews will be shared during the event.
-
The lottery cannot be run until all participant selections have been received.
Missing the deadline delays schedule creation for all participants and may impact the review assignment process. We ask all participants to submit their rankings by the stated deadline so schedules can be generated and distributed as quickly as possible.
